He was predeceased by: his parents, R. D. Smith and Edith Maude Nelson Smith; and his siblings, Roy Dancy (Billie), Bobby Dancy (Tina), Rodney Roy Smith, Ina Faye Farthing (Garry) and Nina Sue Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Kaye Smith; his children, Amy Hines (Trent) and Brian Smith (Melisa); his sister Jenny Alspaugh (Joe); his siblings-in-law, Harry Jones, Carol Johnson (Roger) and Connie Brantley; his grandchildren, Brianna Smith, Allison Smith, Corbin Smith, Adaline Smith, William Smith, Wenhao Smith, Olivia Hines, Beckett Smith and Luke Hines; and his great grandchild Eli Williams. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the New Prospect Baptist Church (111 Prospect Church Rd, Dry Prong, LA 71423). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission in Action or Young at Heart, which were two ministries he was involved in.
