He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Gilbreath and Clara Gilbreath; his siblings, Earl Gilbreath, Clarence Gilbreath, John Gilbreath, Ivern Gilbreath, Polly Dacus and Evelyn Franklin; and his stepson Donnie Stephenson.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Gilbreath; his children, Cyndi Volentine (David), Donna Mancuso and Billie Jean Smith; and his stepdaughter Mia Bentley (Randall). He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
