She was predeceased by: her husband Barnie J. Smith; her son Tony Smith; her granddaughter Jennifer Courson; her parent J. W. Shumate (Annie); and her brother-in-law Doug Fairchild.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sylvia Wilson (Kenny) of Bastrop, LA and Sandra Smith of Bastrop, LA; her siblings, Ellen Fairchild of Epps, LA, Joann Higgs (Ray) of Raymond, MS and Joe Shumate (Thelma) of Pioneer, LA; her brother-in-law Dennis Smith of Bastrop, LA; her grandchildren, Nathan White, Ashley Cable, Donna Nowell and Alex Courson; and her great grandchildren, Skyler Cable, Savannah Loveday (Nolan), Jessica Puckett, Joshua Courson and Charlie Nowell. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
