He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Graciela of Leon Flores and Maria Graciela of Leon Izeppi; his brothers, Rene of Leon Izeppi and Erick of Leon Izeppi; his parents-in-law, Joseph "JB" and Dorothy Ewing Jr.; his sister Lydia; and his siblings-in-law, Joseph "Jay" Ewing, Donald Ewing, Miles Brashier, Ekke Kohler, Dottie Ewing and Sandra Ewing.

He is survived by: his wife Gwen Ewing; his children, Dara of Leon, Allison Doig (Chad) and Charlie (Candace) of Leon; his grandsons, Jacob and Evan Doig; his siblings, Ana (Thomas) of Leon Flynn and Edgar (Bonnie) of Leon Izeppi; and his siblings-in-law, Phyllis Brashier, Fredalee Roop, Hilda Specher of Leon and Mark Ewing (Gail). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Innis, Louisiana.
