He is survived by : his wife Nona Frye Spence; his children, Catherine Louise Spence Sokora (Thomas Joseph Sokora), James Stephen Spence (Monica Cecilia Guerra) and Arthur Hartie Spence, Jr. (Kimberly Davidson Spence); his grandchildren, Rebekah Lynne Spence and Arthur Hartie Spence III (Anna Blake Spence); and his children, Tanner Girard Spence (Meredith McWhirter Spence) and Hyder Travis Spence (Anna Kate Tollett).
