She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Dumas and Vivian Dumas; her brother Ernest Jr. (Ester); and her husband Emile Haynes. She is survived by: her daughter Christina Haynes; her granddaughter Chelsey Haynes; and her sister Helena McClue (Bruce). She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Barbara was also recognized as one of the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1976 and was a recipient of the Charles Silbermann Foundation Fellowship in 1978-1979.
