With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Charlene McDonald Nelson (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 19, 2026 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by: her parents, Madge Young McDonald and Charles Gassie McDonald; and her sister Mary Charlotte McDonald. She is survived by: her husband Michael Houston Nelson; her children, Shane Nelson of Austin, TX and Casey Sullivan (Joe) of Baton Rouge; her grandchildren, Kelly Nelson, Henry Nelson (Kate) of Austin, TX, Houston Sullivan and Erin Sullivan of Baton Rouge; and her sister Kathleen Ann McDonald of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing or Wounded Warriors.
