We announce the death of Fred Skal Sr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 78. Fred will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Skal and Dorothy Hardy; his brother Dan Skal; and his stepson Scott Gogreve. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Fred John Skal, Jr. (Trisha), Shelley and Shawn (Thesia); his sister Sandra; his grandchildren, Josh, Katelyn (Trey), Lauren, Brandan, Ethan, Devin, Erika, Tatum, Jewel and Helen; his great grandchildren, Demi and Braelynn; Kristy (Cory).
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (445 Marquette Ave, Baton Rouge, LA 70806). A Mass was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
