He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Simon and Anna Nell Hernandez; his brother Bruce Hernandez; and his brother-in-law Salvador Saia. He is survived by: his sister Robbie Ann Hernandez Saia; and his sister-in-law Robin Porta Hernandez. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gerald's beloved parish, St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
