He is survived by: his children, Joseph Whitney IV (Michelle), Richard "Dick" Whitney and Melanie Francis (Omar); his sister Stephanie Arnold (Whitney); and his grandchildren, Joseph Whitney (Erin), Kyrstin Broussard (Bryce), Jacob Whitney (Caroline), Kaylah Whitney, Kellyn Peltier (Matthew), Andrew Whitney, Brielle Whitney, Gabriel Francis and Zachary Francis. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
