Michael Patterson Obituary
Michael Patterson of Jonestown, TX passed away on September 23, 2021 at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center. He was formerly a resident of Baton Rouge, LA.
Services will be held at Jefferson United Methodist Church, 10328 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA, 70809 on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Visitation will be in the sanctuary from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by the memorial service. Masks are required.
Mike is survived by his wife Becky Patterson, sister Kathy Blair, children Chris Patterson and his wife Sharon, Scott Patterson and his wife Noha, Rachel Cruthirds and her husband Allen, Michelle White and her husband Rob, Rachel Crowder, Ben Smith and his wife Courtney, and 12 grandchildren.
Mike was born on March 4, 1945 in LaSalle, IL and graduated from Tonica High School in Tonica, IL in 1963. He was the first in his family to graduate from college, graduating from Lamar State College in 1968 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English and a minor in Speech. His favorite pastimes were reading, writing, and traveling around the country with his wife and dogs. He was a prolific writer, having his work published in several magazines and newspapers, as well as writing several novels.
Mike had a strong Christian faith and found great joy in his relationship with the Lord. He grew up in the Lutheran church, attending services at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tonica, IL, which was founded by his ancestors. In Baton Rouge, he was a faithful member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
Mike was a lifelong employee of Wilson Warehouse Company of Texas and Baton Rouge, starting at age 18 and working in all aspects of the business for 50 years. He retired as Comptroller. While working for Wilson Warehouse, he was also an owner of Sabine Transportation, Pallets Associates, Storage Development of Texas, and Storage Development of Louisiana.
