He is survived by: his wife Barbara Richey Sawyer; his son Paul (Lisa); his grandchildren, Thomas, Gillian, Christian, Holden and Robert Sawyer; his sisters, Gail Thomas (late Henry), Carol Costello (Mike) and Maria Butler (Mike); his foster brother Roger Chapman (Charlene); Harvey Richey (Myrna), Donald Richey (Nell), Ruth Morse (Marvin) and Lynn Herlevic (Nic).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge or the Rheumatoid Foundation.
