It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jean Stewart Crain of Bogalusa, Louisiana, who passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Houston Crain; her parents, Ollie Mae Wilson Stewart and Coy Stewart; her son Joel R. Crain; her grandchildren, Kisha Dee Kennedy, Joel Thomas and D. S. Thomas; and her siblings, Dewayne Stewart and Barbara Stewart Kennedy.
She is survived by: her children, Robert W. Crain, Dianne Crain Applewhite (Mike) and Katherine Dee Crain; her grandchildren, Blake Griffith, Tori Pullen (Russell), Chanda Sumrall (J. W.) and Marie Skinner; her nephews, Todd Kennedy and James Kennedy (Ivy); and her caregiver Danise Freeman. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home (216 Alabama Ave, Bogalusa, LA 70427). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
