He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Cothern and Jimmie Cothern; his brothers, Randle Cothern and Clay Cothern; his nephew Shane Cothern; and his brothers-in-law, Daniel Earl Boyd and Terry Jean Boyd.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Cothern; his son Chad Cothern; his grandchildren, Abigail Cothern (Jonathan Magee) and Annabella Cothern; and his great grandchildren, Stella Magee and Luca Magee.
