He was predeceased by: his children, Byron Jarrell, Regina Singleton and Charlotte Jarrell Branch; his parents, Clyde Smith and Gladys Smith; and his great grandchild Grason Chandler Bailey.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Smith; his sons, Walter "Earl" Smith, Jr. (Christa), Robert Earl Smith (Tara) and Jeffery Jarrell; and his siblings, Betty Sue Smith, Ben Smith, Bobby Smith, Michael "Mike" Smith and Billy Smith. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
