He is survived by: his children, Jason Andrew Whitten (Mary Ann), Austin Quinn Whitten (Addison) and Jennifer Whitten Woodard (Jason); his grandchildren, Dakota Blake Whitten (Hope), Elijah Whitten, Logan Whitten, Courtney Woodard, Ethan Woodard, Charlie Kate Whitten and Annie Rhea Whitten; and his nephew Joe L. Williams.
