She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Stevens and Lillie Rankin Stevens; her husband Ronald Root; her siblings, Edith Brown (Jim), Evelyn Hite (Harold), Mae Halpain (LeRoy), Everett Stevens (Jean), Jack Stevens (Lucille), Allen Stevens (Ruby), Dole Stevens (Rosie), Bill Stevens (Helen), Audie Stevens (Joyce), Junior "Shorty" Stevens (Jeanne), Ern Stevens (Elenor) and Omar Stevens; her sister-in-law Donnie Stevens; and her son-in-law Sean Gardner.
She is survived by: her daughters, Patricia Gardner and Peggy Shepherd (Lloyd); her grandchildren, Jerry Gardner, Marissa Gardner, Cody Naber and Spencer Naber; her mother-in-law Ida; and her brother Alfred Stevens. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
After her children were grown, she continued to be a caregiver to her mother-in-law, Ida, who suffered from Alzheimer disease.
