She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Young and Rachel Bissant Young; and her sister Beverly Y. Thompson. She is survived by: her son Anthony "Tony" Lewis; her sisters, Mildred Y. Gardner (late Frank) and Rachel Y. Barthe (Earl); her nephews, Clifford, Earl Barthe, Kenneth (Stacey), Martin (Kam) and Robert Gardner; and her goddaughter Cynthia Adams-Pattani. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and students who became her adopted children.
