He was predeceased by : his parents, Marshall Max Lowry and Lena Helen Lowry-Moore; and his sisters, Mary Alice Lowry, Anna Margaret Lowry-Gill and Helen Gladys Lowry-Barrett.

He is survived by : his wife Ruth Cornell Lowry; his sons, Max Lee Lowry (Patricia Lowry), Nathan Andrew Buckles (Angela Buckles) and Donnie Ray Buckles (Rhonda Buckles); and his siblings, Marsha Gayle Lowry-Johns, Merilyn Grace Moore, Tracy Moore, Myra Moore and Lovelle C. Moore. He is also survived by two grandsons and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
