She was predeceased by: her son Kirk Anthony Batiste; her parents, Paul Shelvin and Louise Shelvin; her brother Paul Shelvin; and her granddaughter Katia Batiste.
She is survived by: her husband John Batiste Sr.; her children, John Batiste Jr. (Tracy) of Fulshear, TX, Dennis Batiste (Evelyn) of Fulshear, TX, Chris Batiste (Regina) of Pearland, TX and Dr. Nikki Blaze of Covington, KY; and her sisters, Rosemary Shelvin Porter (Richard) of Houston, TX, Delia Shelvin-Hood (Pete) of Houston, TX and Paulette Crosby of Houston, TX. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and four God children; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4117 N University Ave, Carencro, LA 70520). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
