He was predeceased by: his wife Mable Guidry Rathey; and his siblings, John Emile Gomez, Jackie Rathey and Katherine Wingham (Ross). He is survived by: his brother Joe Gomez (JoeAnn) of St. Bernard; his stepchildren, Barbara McClain (David) of Youngsville, Lucita Bandy of Virginia Beach, VA, Susie Dugal (Charlie) of Sunset, Vincente Laurente (Edna) of Pearl River, Felix Laurente (Tammy) of Melburn, FL and David Laurente (Shannon) of Violet, LA; and his brother Louis Loteria Gomez. He is also survived by fourteen step-grandchildren; twenty-seven step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 21st 2026 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4117 N University Ave, Carencro, LA 70520). A rosary was held on Saturday, March 21st 2026 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
