He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Fontenot and Vernice Daigle Fontenot; his daughter Julie Fontenot; his siblings, Jerry Lynn Fontenot and Patricia Duplechin; and his siblings-in-law, Nevelle Bourque, Malcolm, Donald "Chopper" Thibodeaux, Adam Duplechin, Donald Reed, Gerald Granger and Danny Sonnier.
He is survived by: his wife Delores Thibodeaux Fontenot; his daughters, Kimberly Schellert (Patrick) of Lawrenceville, GA, Casey Fontenot of Denham Springs, LA and Kelli Herban (Andrew) of Lewisburg, LA; his grandchildren, Kamryn Fontenot, Peyton Schellert, Mason, Jackson, Dawson and Greyson Herban; his siblings, Evelyn "Nina" Granger of Jennings, Margie Reed of Basile, LA, Gail Sonnier of Tee Mamou, LA, Edward "Jimmy" Fontenot (Debra) of Jennings and Harold Fontenot (Debbie) of Maurice, LA; and his friends, Virgil, Tammy and Chloe Breaux.
