He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Elvin Bennett and Mildred Gertrude Cotham; his siblings, Patricia B. Mathas (Eugene) and Robert Vernon Bennett; his nephews, Eugene "Buddy" Mathas, Jr. and Darren Elvin Mathas; and his son-in-law Patrick G. Carrigan, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Patsy; his children, Deborah B. Carrigan, Julie B. Grotte, Ronald E. Bennett, Jr. (Jennifer) and Laurie B. Thibodeaux (Wyatt); and his grandchildren, Isaac Cook, Nathan Grotte, Jr. (Kristen), Ryan Carrigan, Meghan Carrigan, Wyatt Thibodeaux, Jr., Walker Thibodeaux and Nicholas Bennett. He is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
