He was predeceased by: his siblings, Stephen Istre, Ernest Istre, Harry Lee Istre and Linda Ann Istre; his parents-in-law, Clarence J. Prevost and Marie Alice Prevost; his siblings-in-law, Carlton J. Prevost, Linda Duhon Istre and Ella Mae Istre; Celestin.
He is survived by: his wife Nell Prevost Istre; his children, Jena (David Coty Bordes) and John Lee Istre Jr. (Rachel Istre); his grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth Bordes), Ashley Istre (Grant Broussard) and Brittany (Shayan Gulzar); his brothers, Ervis Istre and Lawrence (Vicky Istre); and his siblings-in-law, Patty Sureta Istre, Leewood John Prevost and Gregory Lafosse.
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Gossen Funeral Home Inc. (504 N Polk St, Rayne, LA 70578). A rosary was held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (401 S Adams Ave, Rayne, LA 70578).
