He was predeceased by: his parents, William Leonards, and Rose Bollich Leonards, Sr.; his son Karl William Leonards; his siblings, Louise L. Heinen, Gregory Leonards and Alfred Leonards; his siblings-in-law, Lawrence Heinen, Mike McBride and Susan Leonards; and his nephews, George Hoffpauir and Arron Baber.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Dischler Leonards; his children, Lisa Turner (Guy) of Iota, LA, Kenneth Leonards (Tonya) and Bryan Leonards (Nancy) of Crowley, LA; his siblings, Audrey McBride, Lucille Chisholm (Tom), Judy Hoffpauir (Cecil), Stephen Leonards, Al Leonards (Brenda) and Bill Leonards (Bobbi); his grandchildren, Abigail Leonards Duthu (Nicholas), Grant Leonards (Preslie), Grace Leonards and Emma Leonards; his great grandchildren, Isla Duthu and Lydia Leonards; his grandsons, Christian Leonards and Layne Turner; his grandson-in-law Nicholas Duthu; and his nephew Jeremy Leonards. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Francis Catholic School, St. Michael Elementary, and Notre Dame of Acadia Parish.
