He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert Shirley and Loula Shirley; and his siblings, Eddie Shirley, Albert Shirley and Katherine Shirley Birchard.

He is survived by : his children, Lauren Shirley Holmes (Chris) and John Forrest Shirley (Kasey); his siblings, Doris Reynolds (Paul), Susan Burden, Charlie Shirley (Debbie) and Robert Shirley (Barbara Mitchell); and his grandchildren, Myla Shirley and Peyton Shirley.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Northside Baptist Church (200 Cockerham Rd, Denham Springs, LA 70726). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
