He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Covington and Connie Covington; and his brother J. L. "Cub" Covington. He is survived by: his children, Kelli (Chad Varnado) and Kim (Chris Kinchen); the parent of his children Jackie Covington; his partner's daughter Brandy Blue; his son Carl Mello; his grandchildren, Jack Varnado, Curry Kinchen and Karli Elrod; his great grandchildren, Emersyn and Taytum Elrod; his nephew Lawson Covington; his sister-in-law Carol Covington; and his close friends, Jeff Sachse and Aubrey.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (27735 LA-16, Denham Springs, LA 70726). A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location.
