He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Otha Griffin, Jr. and Virgie Lee Griffin (Jones); his wife Gloria Gerlach Griffin; his children, William "Willie" Griffin IV and Melanie Griffin Derry; his son-in-law Christopher John Derry; his grandchildren, Jackson Pierce Derry, Isabella Noelle Derry and Madeline Grace Derry; his siblings, Patricia Griffin Markel and Barry Lynn Griffin; his siblings-in-law, Cheryl Howk Griffin and Evan Gerlach Jr. (Sue Sampson); his nieces and nephews, Gary Lee Markel II, Michael Lynn Griffin, Matthew Sampson, Anna McLin, Jennifer Gerlach and Laura McGrath; and his grandchild Maddie Grace.
