With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Stanley Skylar Nelson (Deridder, Louisiana), who passed away on June 5, 2025 at the age of 69. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Nelson, Jr. and Emma Sanson Nelson. He is survived by: his children, Tessa Granger (Todd) of DeRidder, LA and Nick Nelson (Samantha) of Alexandria, LA; his grandchildren, Seth Granger, Ben Nelson, Bella Granger and Jordyn Nelson; his close friend Nancy Burnham of DeRidder, LA; his brother Mark Nelson (Irene Nelson) of Clayton, LA; his nieces, Stephanie Ashley of Bossier City, LA and Marcie Nelson of Quitman, LA; and his great-nephew Colin Thibodeaux of Bossier City, LA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Myers-Colonial Funeral Home (3178 US-190, DeRidder, LA 70634). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at the Beauregard Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Stanley's memory to one of the following: Faith Baptist Church (Clayton, LA), the Manship School of Mass Communication-Journalism (Louisiana State University), the School of Communication-Journalism (Louisiana Tech University), or the Concordia Parish Library (Ferriday, LA).
