He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Montelaro and Annie Ferruggia Montelaro; his siblings, Carlos Montelaro and Sister Mary Margaret Montelaro; and his sister-in-law Madeline Reed Montelaro.

He is survived by: his siblings, James J. Montelaro of Eunice, Dr. Louis V Montelaro (Gail) of New Roads and Frances Montelaro Fruge (Harry) of Eunice; his sister-in-law Kathy Montelaro of California; and his siblings' children, Christine M Barbour, Phyllis Gremillion, Gregory Montelaro, Jody Montelaro, Anne Marie Miller, Donald Fruge, Angelle Driggs, Philip Montelaro, Mitch Montelaro, Andrea Bergeron and Corrine Montelaro.
