He was predeceased by: his significant other Jackie Smith Ferrington; his parents, Calvin Jade Ferrington and Barbara Herron Ferrington; his brother Ernest Berry; his son William Melvin Ferrington, Jr.; his son-in-law Ernest Champion; his grandson William Champion; his great grandchild Haley Gillespie Johnson; his great great grandchild Gunner Johnson; and his friend Henry Vanier.
He is survived by: his daughters, Janice Gillespie (Dwight) of Sicily Island, LA and Tammy Champion of Ferriday, LA; his grandchildren, Maggie Johnson (Gary), Sam Gillespie, Jackie Gillespie (Julio), Little Dwight Gillespie, April Wicker (Chris), Dallas Pirman (Ryan), Sarah Fisher and Jamie Ferrington (Lindsey); his great grandchildren, Kate Gillespie, Justyce, Liberty Zavala, Bailey Gillespie, Desi Mitchel, Daniel, Michael Wicker, Allie, Addison Pirman, Mackenize Fisher and Gavin Ferrington; his great great grandchildren, Maverick, Jace Johnson and Oakley Mitchel; and his great grandchild Oscar.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Young's Funeral Home (609 EE Wallace Boulevard, Ferriday, LA 71334). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
