He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Redmond Smith; his parents, Anna Carrington Smith and Joseph Smith, Sr.; and his sister Judith Boudreaux Mendow. He is survived by: his children, Joseph "Joey" Smith, III (Jan), Eva Bowers (Curtis), Anna Zegura (Steven) and Troy Smith (Helen); and his close friend Joycelyn Ansalve. He is also survived by grandchildren and four great-grandchild.
