He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Lee Freeman and Lucinda Wells; his grandparents, Charles and Agnes Lewis; his stepmother Eva Lewis; his brothers, Chester Freeman and Robert A. Freeman; and his brothers-in-law, Murphy Brown, Luther Joseph and Carl Joseph.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila M. Joseph-Freeman; his children, Joseph Freeman (Shabrette) of Loreauville, Stephen Freeman Jr. (ShaQuanda) of Humble, TX, Iris Garrett of Baton Rouge, LA, Swanzetta Joseph (Mark) of Baldwin, LA, Tequila Freeman (Keith) of Franklin, LA, Kessie Neville (Derek) of Franklin, LA and Kasian Malveaux of Youngsville, LA; his sisters, Agnes Brown, Connie Lewis of Baldwin, LA and Paula Wagner (Kenneth) of Lafayette, LA; and his friends, Michael Burney, Ronald Burney, Oswald Rollins and Maurice Ruffin. He is also survived by twenty nine grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren, seven godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
