She was predeceased by : her father Harold Thomas; her daughter Tiffany LaRive; her mother Virgie LeBlanc Thomas; her brother Hal Dean Thomas; her uncle Hilton "Bud" LeBlanc; and her aunt Jeanette Ecuer.

She is survived by : her daughter Suzy LaRive Day (Nick); her grandchildren, Taylor Day, Nathan Day and Renley Day; and her nieces, Lori Tieperman Lott and Keeley Tieperman Stromberg.

In lieu of flowers, Mel asked that donations be made for Masses to be said for the repose of her soul.
