She is survived by: her significant other Anatole Ray Matherne; her children, Brenda Matherne Gautreau, Jerome (Charlotte), Terry (Sue), Mike (Lindsey) and Owen Matherne (Debra); her grandchildren, Kyle Matherne, Tyler Matherne, Caitlin Elrod (Norman), Duffi Lawless (Mark), Khaki Hazzlerigg (Scott), Sarah Losh (Phillip), Brian Gautreau (Nancy), Damon Matherne (Valerie), Arwin Nuttal, Seth Matherne (Rachel), Hannah Taylor (Cory), Joseph Matherne (Megan), Philip Matherne, John Matherne and David Matherne (Hannah); and her siblings, Lois Brueck, Jean Purvis, Lula Craig (Fred), Richard (Judy) and Harold Craig (Lillie). She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (1217 S Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA 70737). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Contributions to honor Marie's memory can be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, which was dear to her.
