He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Willie Lee Wood and Katherine Helen Marler Wood; and his sister Roxie Jo Wood Rachal. He is survived by: his wife Donna Jo Cassell Wood; his children, Faye Raenel Wood Bryant (Scott), Michael Paul Wood, Jason Todd Beeson (Merdy) and John Brian Beeson (Dannielle); his grandchildren, Kayleigh Bryant, Colton Beeson (Paige), Raven Brown (Adam), Katherine Assaid (Riley), Dylan Wood, Tyler Harper, Jacob Beeson and Harli Beeson; his great grandchildren, Kolsyn Wood and Magnolia Beeson; his siblings, Sandra Pressley, Debra Boykin (Carey) and Sheriff Mark Wood (Tonya); and his brother-in-law Michael Rachal. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and honorary grandchildren.
