She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald Stewart, Sr.; her parents, Clarence Short and Leola Short; her siblings, Clarence Short, Jr., Rennorh Short, Sr., Lee Andrew Short, Leroy Short, John Neal Short, Chester Short, Bernard Calloway, Cedonia Chapman, Lucille Sneeze and Yvonne Boykin; her son-in-law Bruce Williams, Sr.; and her daughter Lupa Singleton.
She is survived by: her children, John Ward, Sr. of Houma, LA, Gerald Stewart, Jr. of Houston, TX, Versettiel Williams of Thibodaux, LA and Lora Singleton of Tallahassee, FL; her granddaughter Darlene Singleton; her siblings, Sterling Short (Joan) of Houma, LA, Rose Waters of Gibson, LA and Lillie Williams (Sidney) of Dularge, LA.; and her godchildren, Randy Chapman and Janelle Short. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: eleven great‑grandchildren.
