He was predeceased by: his stepdaughter Shonda Brooke Ferguson. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Hamilton Barlow; his son Herman Willie Barlow Jr.; his stepdaughters, Shannon Ferguson Boothe and Amy Danielle Ferguson; and his siblings, Lannie Ray Barlow and Barbara Nell Lowe.
In addition to loving his church, he loved gardening, donating his produce to the widowed women of his church and fishing.
