It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris Vermelle Scales Gomery of Gilliam, Louisiana, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on September 28, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Audrey Dean Little Scales and Forest G. Scales; her brother Forest G. Scales, Jr. (Frances); her niece Ruth Bennett Lamm (Jack); and her nephew Paul Scales (Lucie).

She is survived by: her siblings, Mary Frances Bennett of Cary, NC and Doug Scales of Atlanta, GA; and her nieces and nephews, Chuck (Culver), Brian Scales (Molly), Charlotte Scales and Bonnie Claire Dunn (Tim).
