He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Sexton and Madeline Sexton; his brother Vince Patterson (Gwen); his grandson Tristan Patterson; and his nephew Todd Poche Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Gail "Rodie" Patterson; his sons, Pat Patterson and Ryan Patterson (Jessica); his grandchildren, Keagan Patterson, Kasen Patterson and Kambree Patterson; and his sisters, JoAnn Poche (Clarence "Todd") and Georgia Hymel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
