He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorcelie Esponge Sr. and Henrietta Galliano Esponge; and his brothers, Dorcelie "Cisco" Esponge Jr. and Noles Esponge. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Dunn Esponge; his children, Norris Joseph Esponge, Jr. (Denise), Elizabeth Esponge Anderton (Quinn) and Violet Esponge; his grandchildren, Christopher Anderton (Heather), Tyler Anderton (Chris), Quinn Elizabeth Anderton (Erin), Norris J. Esponge III (Hailey) and Mason Self; his great grandchildren, Jax Esponge, Adaline Esponge and Willow Esponge; his grandchildren, Madison Hartwell, Cody, Derek, Jared, Harleigh Duplantis, Meilenn Weiss, Abby Pennison, Lauren and Ronnie Self; and his caregivers, Holly and Paige.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
