Carolyn Theresa (Burks) Jackson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Theresa (Burks) Jackson, of Gretna, Louisiana, who was born on September 1, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carolyn peacefully entered eternal rest on January 21, 2024, at the age of 67, surrounded by love.
Carolyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by compassion, faith, and service to others. She was baptized at an early age at Union Bethel AME Church and later rededicated her life at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Walter L. Cohen Senior High School and graduated from Rabouin Vocational High School in 1975 as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
Carolyn dedicated over 20 years of service to University Medical Center, where she worked as a Unit Secretary in the Emergency Room and One Day Surgery. She was known for her caring spirit, strong work ethic, and willingness to always help others. She truly had a heart of gold.
In June of 1985, Carolyn married David Jackson. She was the loving mother of the late Corey Jackson and cherished daughter Irielle Jackson Turner. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kameron Corey Deal, Zori A. Turner, and Kingston S. Turner, whom she loved dearly.
Carolyn enjoyed cooking, shopping, talking on the phone, and spending quality time with her family. She especially treasured holidays such as Christmas and Easter. Her beautiful smile, warm personality, and loving nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Irielle Turner (Larry); her devoted friend of 31 years, Everette Vigne; her goddaughter, Rena Duma; her siblings; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, Corey Jackson; her parents; grandparents; and several siblings.
Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to live on through all whose lives she touched.
