It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ervin Smith of Gretna, Louisiana, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on June 6, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, S. T. Smith and Nellie Jimmerson Johnson; and his siblings, Willie Johnson, C. L. Johnson and Ella "Matey" Mae Johnson.
He is survived by: his close friend Rose Brisbon; his children, Carmen L. Smith-Hubbard, Chantell Smith, Shaun Scott, Jamal Scott, Ervin Red, Donieta Thomas, NaKeysha Cleaves, Keisha Brisbon and Isaac Brisbon; and his siblings, Ophur "Doll" Johnson (Charlie) of Gulfport, MS, Myrtis Hendricks Brown (Bobby) of Gauthier, MS, Georgia Wright of Gautier, MS, Frank Smith (Leslie) of Oklahoma and Robert Johnson, Jr. (Katherine) of Gulfport, MS. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
