We announce the death of George C. Smith of Gretna, Louisiana, who passed away on July 4, 2026, at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivory Smith, Sr. and Bessie Marshall Smith; and his siblings, Carlvin Smith, Ivory Smith, Jr., Helen Smith McGill, Earnestine Stubbs, Naomi Smith Denham and Christine Smith Neeley.
He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Myles Smith; his children, Cliffon Yvette Smith of Washington, DC and Rebecca C. Smith Johnson (Christian R. Johnson) of Houston, TX.; his sibling Jesse Dean Smith of Birmingham, AL.; and his godson Anthony Carlyle of Starkville, MS.. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends.
