He was predeceased by: his parent Bertie Cleveland; his brother Wayne Cleveland; his daughter-in-law Kristi Cleveland; and his grandsons, Colton Newell and Brandon Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Leslie Cleveland; his children, Cory, Clay, Cabot Cleveland (Teena), Connie Bates (David), Cindy Newell (Brooks) and Carrie Carpenter (Keith); his stepchildren, David Carter Jr. (Carolyn), Kenneth Carter (Laura) and Shirley Browder (Jamie); and his sister Cara Johnson (Vernon). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
