He was predeceased by : his parents, John McCarroll and Genevieve McCarroll (Bell); and his sister Diane. He is survived by : his wife Betty Rider; his brother Jack; his children, Rebecca (Brandon), John "J. R.", Tim and Judy; and his grandchildren, Rain, Audrey, Charlotte and Benjamin.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
