He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Sr. Hernandez and Betty Hernandez; and his brother Gene Hernandez. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hernandez; his son Joshua (Jordan); his stepsons, David Rico (Alyssa) and Ricky Rico, Jr.; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Madeline Hernandez, Alexia LaVergne (Tyler), Rocky Rico (Victoria), David Rico II, Leanna Rico (Seth), Kyleigh (Stephen), Kaden, Ricky III, Ryleigh and William; his brother Douglas Hernandez Jr. (Julie); his niece Brandi (Terry); his nephew Brian (Brandi); and his great-niece Ava. He is also survived by many cousins and dear friends.

Donations would be appreciated in his name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
