He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack H. Straub and Joycelyn L. Straub. He is survived by: his wife Shawna Straub (Gordon); his children, Dr. Joseph A. Straub and Bethany Edwards (Adam C. Edwards) of Natchitoches; his siblings, Sheryl Arrant (Billy), Linda McGarry (Dan) and Michael Straub (Pam); Fred. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
