With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Tommy McLain of Hessmer, Louisiana, who passed away on July 24, 2025 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Tommy McLain to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his son Tommy McLain, Jr.; his parents, Glenn McLain and Nellie McLain; his siblings, Paul McLain, Albert McLain, Glendola Mills and Odessa Lewis; and his daughter-in-law Brenda McLain.
He is survived by: his children, Barry McLain (Phyllis) of Crowley, David McLain (Amie) of Mansura, Felecia Soileau (William) of Cottonport, Chad McLain (Nikki) of Cottonport, Jonathan McLain (Julia) of Pride and Alyson Lemoine (Guy) of Plaucheville; and his girlfriend Carol Skaggs. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 12:00 PM and on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 7:00 AM at the Escude Funeral Home of Cottonport (552 Front St, Cottonport, LA 71327). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church of Cottonport (820 Front St, Cottonport, LA 71327).
In 2007, he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in recognition of his contributions to the state's rich musical heritage.
