He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Wesley and Jessie Clay Rogers Cottrell; his wife Glenda Cottrell; and his siblings, Harvey Cottrell and Frances Cottrell.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Wesley Cottrell (Sara) of Marshall, TX and Sondra Murphy (Chad) of Dunn, NC; his sisters, Bobbie Jean Lee, Charlotte Lewis (Rickey) and Shirley Roberson (Ricky); his grandchildren, Annabelle Cottrell, Marley Cottrell, Christopher Bridgers (Bailey) of Pinehurst, NC and Dylan Murphy (Kaleigh) of Louisburg, NC; and his great grandchildren, Audrey Bridgers, Lilly Juarez, Avery Murphy and Autumn Murphy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers honoring Charles, his family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
